Version 2.0 · Last updated 18 August 2026
These Terms govern your use of www.dearone.in and the search and placement services provided by Dearone Private Limited (CIN U86900MH2026PTC467148), a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, operating in Mumbai, Maharashtra (“Dear One”, “we”, “us”).
By submitting an enquiry, accepting a Placement Agreement or making a payment, you (“you”, the “Client”) accept these Terms. Where a signed Placement Agreement exists, that agreement prevails to the extent of any conflict.
Dear One provides a private search and introduction service for carefully screened nannies, japa and postnatal caregivers, and registered nurses. We identify potentially suitable professionals against your written requirement and facilitate introductions and interviews.
Dear One is not the professional's employer. We are not a hospital, a home-healthcare provider, an immigration agent or a medical adviser. Unless separately agreed in writing, we do not supervise a professional's daily work, pay her salary, control her working hours, or provide clinical instruction. Any professional you engage is engaged directly by you, and you are responsible for her terms, her pay and the conditions in which she works.
These three roles are routinely confused in this market, usually at the family's expense. We will always tell you which one your situation actually calls for.
Childcare, feeding support, hygiene, age-appropriate activity and routine assistance. A nanny must not give injections, perform wound care or medical procedures, or manage medication unsupervised, unless she is separately qualified and lawfully authorised to do so.
Non-clinical newborn and maternal support — routine baby care, hygiene, settling, and culturally appropriate postnatal support. A japa caregiver is not automatically a nurse, midwife or lactation consultant, and we will never present her as one.
Nursing care within her qualification, registration, competency and the treating doctor's written instructions. Dear One does not prescribe treatment and does not provide clinical supervision. Any deterioration, medication error or emergency must be referred immediately to the treating doctor or emergency services.
| Item | Amount | When payable |
|---|---|---|
| Search retainer | ₹10,000, non-refundable | To activate the search |
| Total placement fee | One month of the selected professional's agreed monthly salary | On completion of 10 service days |
| Balance on confirmation | Placement fee less the ₹10,000 already paid | Within 2 business days of invoice |
| The professional's salary | As agreed between you and her | Paid by you, directly to her, from her first working day |
All amounts are exclusive of GST and other taxes, which will be added where legally required. We never deduct any fee, commission or charge from a professional's wages.
“Agreed monthly salary” means fixed monthly cash compensation including any guaranteed fixed allowance. It excludes genuine expense reimbursements, discretionary gifts, overtime and bonuses unless otherwise stated. Where more than one professional is engaged — for example two nurses covering separate shifts — the placement fee applies separately to each, unless we have given you a written package quotation.
The search runs for 30 calendar days, beginning when all three of the following have happened: you have accepted these terms in writing; we have received the ₹10,000 retainer in cleared funds; and you have approved the completed requirement brief. A telephone conversation alone does not begin a search.
You may receive up to three suitable profiles during the search, shared one at a time. You must review, interview or decline the current profile before we release the next.
A profile counts when the professional has confirmed her interest and availability, we have completed preliminary screening, she is reasonably consistent with the agreed brief, and we have sent you a meaningful profile or arranged an interview.
A profile will not ordinarily count if the professional withdraws before interview for reasons unconnected to you. A profile will count if you fail to respond within three business days, repeatedly postpone an agreed interview, reject her for a requirement you did not previously disclose, or contact or engage her outside our process.
We do not guarantee that all three profiles will be available immediately, or that you will select any of them.
The ₹10,000 retainer is non-refundable and is earned when we activate the search. It covers requirement assessment, sourcing, preliminary screening, candidate coordination and profile presentation. It is not refundable because you change your mind, reject the profiles, stop responding, change your requirements, find someone elsewhere, or because no placement completes within the search period.
If a placement completes, the retainer is credited in full against the placement fee. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for the limited circumstances in which it is refunded.
A professional is selected when you communicate acceptance and she accepts the role and the proposed start date. Before she begins, you and she should record in writing: duties, salary, working hours, weekly off, live-in or live-out status, accommodation and meals, overtime, leave, travel, notice period and start date. You must not materially change the agreed terms after she has accepted.
The first ten days are not a free trial. The professional is paid by you from her first working day, for every day she works. The placement is treated as confirmed once she completes ten service days — days on which she performs an agreed shift. A scheduled weekly off does not by itself interrupt the period. The balance of the placement fee becomes payable on completion of the tenth service day.
If she voluntarily withdraws before completing ten service days for reasons not caused by you, the balance does not yet fall due and we resume the search, subject to your remaining search period and profile entitlement.
The placement will nevertheless be treated as confirmed if she leaves because you changed the agreed duties, salary, location or hours; failed to pay her; provided unsafe or unsuitable accommodation; engaged in abusive, discriminatory or unlawful conduct; retained her documents; required undisclosed travel; or otherwise materially breached the agreed conditions.
See the Refund & Cancellation Policy for the full terms of the replacement assurance and the conditions attached to it.
Every professional introduced by Dear One remains a Dear One introduction for 12 months from the date of introduction. If you, a relative, a household member, an associated company or anyone acting for you engages her during that period, the placement fee becomes payable. This applies whether she is engaged directly, through another agency, for a different role, at another household or business connected with you, or after the search has expired. You must not ask a professional to conceal an arrangement from us.
You — not Dear One — are responsible for wages and their timely payment, working hours and rest, weekly leave and holidays, overtime, safe working conditions, suitable live-in accommodation, meals where agreed, workplace conduct, applicable statutory obligations, local police verification, medical instructions, and termination or notice.
You must provide a reasonably safe and harassment-free workplace, accurate emergency contacts, clear medication instructions, and disclosure of CCTV, pets, smoking, weapons or other material hazards. CCTV must never be installed in bathrooms, sleeping areas or anywhere a person reasonably expects privacy. Neither you nor Dear One may retain a professional's original passport or identity documents. You must not employ any person under the age of eighteen in your household in any capacity.
Describing a professional as a “freelancer” does not make her one. Her legal status depends on the actual working relationship — control, hours, supervision and economic dependence.
We describe professionals as carefully screened. We do not describe them as “verified”, “fully vetted”, “guaranteed”, “crime-free” or “100% safe”, because no honest agency in India can substantiate those words.
Standard screening ordinarily includes: an in-person interview; confirmation that the candidate is at least eighteen; identity review; current address information; work history and explanation of gaps; at least two references where reasonably available, including a recent employer where possible; role-specific experience review; a candidate truth declaration; candidate consent to process and share relevant information; assessment of language and communication; and disclosure of any material inconsistencies we find.
For a person presented as a registered nurse we additionally check the nursing qualification, registration number, State Nursing Council registration status and its expiry or renewal, previous clinical employment, any claimed speciality and certificates, and whether the proposed duties fall within her lawful competency.
Every line of every profile carries one of these labels, and nothing is left ambiguous:
An important limitation. India has no single national criminal-records database that a private company may search. Our screening does not, and cannot, constitute a complete criminal record check, and we do not represent otherwise. Every profile ends with a section setting out what we were unable to confirm, and you are asked to read it before deciding anything.
We may assist with police-verification information, but you should complete the applicable local police process before or promptly after engagement. No background check can guarantee a person's future conduct. Screening reduces risk. It does not eliminate it.
We do not routinely send complete Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, passports or medical records to clients. We collect only what is genuinely required, prefer masked Aadhaar or consent-based offline verification, record that an original was sighted rather than retaining unnecessary copies, watermark any verification copy, restrict access to authorised staff, and delete verification copies on the schedule in our Privacy Policy. You will receive only the information reasonably necessary to assess and engage the professional, and you must never retain her original documents.
Dear One maintains zero tolerance for physical punishment, shaking or rough handling, neglect, sexual misconduct, humiliation or threats, unauthorised medication, intoxication while working, theft, photographing or posting a child or patient online, unauthorised visitors, and concealment of a serious incident.
Any immediate danger, missing child, serious injury, suspected abuse or medical emergency must be reported first to the police, emergency services or the treating doctor — not to us. Nothing in these Terms prevents or delays mandatory reporting under applicable law, including child-protection law. You should notify us within 24 hours of any serious incident so that we can suspend the professional from further introductions while the matter is reviewed. Dear One is not a police authority and will not obstruct or replace an official investigation.
A passport belongs to the professional. Neither Dear One nor you may retain an original passport as security. Domestic or international travel requires her informed written agreement, clear duties and hours, tickets, visa, insurance and accommodation arranged, emergency contacts, rest periods, and agreed salary and travel allowance. Dear One does not arrange overseas employment, emigration clearance or work visas. A passport requirement must never be used to pressure a professional into undisclosed overseas employment.
Profiles, videos, telephone numbers, addresses, identification information and references are provided to you in confidence, for the sole purpose of assessing that professional for your own household. They must not be posted in groups, forwarded to another agency, shared with unrelated persons, used to approach former employers improperly, published online, or retained indefinitely. Professionals are likewise bound not to disclose your private information, photographs, medical information, household routines, address or financial details.
Dear One will exercise reasonable skill and care in providing its search and screening service. We do not guarantee a professional's future conduct, her continued availability, personality compatibility, medical outcomes, length of employment, the accuracy of information deliberately concealed by another person, or that a professional will never make a mistake or commit misconduct.
The professional is engaged by you and works under your direction in your home. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dear One is not liable for her acts, omissions, negligence or misconduct once engaged, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with our services is limited to the fees actually paid by you to Dear One in respect of the relevant search.
Dear One remains responsible for its own fraud, wilful misconduct and proven gross negligence. Nothing here removes any right that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
We may suspend or terminate a search, without refund of the retainer, where you provide false information; the work appears unsafe or unlawful; you request discriminatory screening; you ask that documents or passports be retained; you attempt to avoid the placement fee; required payments are not made; you harass our staff or a candidate; or continuing would expose a child, patient, professional or Dear One representative to harm.
Formal communications go to the email addresses recorded in your agreement. Telephone and WhatsApp may be used for coordination, but contractual approvals, fee terms, complaints, candidate selection and material changes must be confirmed by email. Electronic acceptance and electronic contracts are recognised under Indian law, including section 10A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Concerns about punctuality, routine, communication or suitability should be raised promptly and in writing; both you and the professional will normally be given an opportunity to respond. No person should be publicly accused or named in messaging groups or on social media before the facts are established.
The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute by written discussion within 15 days, and may then attempt confidential mediation. Subject to your statutory rights, unresolved contractual disputes may be referred to a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Mumbai. These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai have jurisdiction. Nothing here restricts your right to approach an appropriate consumer forum.
We may update these Terms. The version in force when you accept an agreement or make a payment is the version that applies to that engagement.
